The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities. **The MSA Department of Physical Plant Services is currently seeking a full-time Central Stores Specialist position at its Physical Plant Facility located in Faribault, MN.** **This position primarily provides shipping and receiving support for the Physical Plant Operations. Receive shipments arriving at the Central Stores via US Mail, UPS, FedEx and other delivery/transport carriers.** + **Distribute products, materials, products, etc. to the appropriate person or locations at MSA. May require occasional trips to the USPS to deliver or pick up mailings** + **Receive and process all incoming and outgoing materials, products, mailings, etc. for MSA's central stores.** + **Maintain and manage inventory of material, products and supplies. Place orders as needed to expedite repairs.** + **Maintain records of gas and diesel fuel usage by plant vehicles /equipment and request and maintain adequate fuel inventory.** + **Perform annual and periodic inventory of all stocked items** + **Monitor battery recycling program.** + **Manage the purchasing process using best purchase/pricing practices.** + **Utilize existing inventory management system and processes to manage and have record of all central store activities/transactions.** + **Maintain MSA's SDS program and update all data storage as required.** + **Maintain operation and maintenance files on all equipment.** **Minimum Qualifications** + Computer knowledge (Outlook, Google, Excel) + Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task + **Ability to use various equipment to move/transport material and products in a safe and efficient manner.** + Experience and knowledge of record keeping + Experience with inventory, supplies and ordering + **Knowledge sufficient to distribute incoming/outgoing materials, products, mail effectively.** **Preferred Qualifications** + **One (1) year experience working in a central stores/shipping room or one (1) year customer service experience.** + **Experience operating pallet jack and carts while following all safety procedures.** + **Thorough knowledge and understanding of shipping and mail safety standards and procedures.** + **Ability to research and find solutions to shipping and delivery related problems.** + **Basic knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL)** **Physical Requirements** + **To be in physically good health along with demonstrated ability to climb stairs and ladders.** + **Physical health and endurance should allow the employee to frequently bend, stretch, stoop, stand, squat, crawl, walk and be able to shovel snow and use snow blowers/snow removal equipment as needed.** + **Must be able to lift 25 pounds on a daily basis and occasionally up to 50-80 pounds.** **Additional Requirements** + Employment is contingent upon a successful criminal background check within the past 12 months AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Minnesota State Colleges and Universities is an Equal Opportunity employer/educator committed to the principles of diversity.
