Qualifications
No time off request granted during April 7th- June 6th unless a emergency due to the advanced course curriculum Candidate able and willing to work M-F 40 hours a week. Schedules will vary based on clinical sites and could be between these hours of 7:30am-5:00pm Candidate able to commute to Indianapolis once a week for 7 weeks 8:00am-4:30pm Candidate to be able and willing to work around biohazardous specimens and body fluids. Candidate to be able to dedicate 10-20 additional hours per week for assignments, modules, reading, and studying. Candidate to be able and willing to perform CPR. Candidate to be able to meet technical and technology (computer, internet, camera, microphone) requirements for the program.As a Medical Assistant Trainee, you will complete the Medical Assistant Education Program that includes 140 hours minimum of in-person & online classes, online modules, weekly quizzes or assessments, in-person simulation instruction, check offs and 160 hours minimum of supervised, clinical practicum. Experience and gain knowledge in the following areas: Anatomy and Physiology, Infection Control, Vital signs, Medication Administration, Billing and Coding, and Clinical procedures. At the completion of the courses, a national certification exam will need to be passed in order to become a Certified Medical Assistant. Once all requirements are achieved, the trainee will graduate and be able to transfer to an open MAII position within IU Health.
High School Diploma/GED is required. Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience. Be at least 18 years of age by the start of the program. Requires basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Teams). Meet the technical and physical standards. Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association is required.
