Department Overview:

As a member of TD Private Wealth Management (PWM), the Wealth Planning Support Team (WPS) consists of financial industry professionals that includes accountants and financial planners. The team's mission is to support the wealth planning process by providing knowledge, tools and planning support that empowers advisors to make sound and proactive recommendations that are tailored to each client's unique objectives. The Wealth Planning process is fundamental to the way we do business. It is a thorough and consistent approach that can help guide client relationships. Our goal is to help advisors create integrated and customized solutions for clients by focusing on their unique objectives.

Centralized Planning is a team within the WPS team. Centralized Planning consists of financial planning subject matter experts with an overarching objective of supporting TD Wealth (TDW) advisors with delivering on our 4 Pillar Value Proposition. The team creates plans using TD Wealth Architect for TDW advisors targeting clients with $1M to $3M of investable assets.  The team's mandate is to support TDW advisors with increasing and elevating planning within their book of business.

Job Description: 

The Centralized Planner is responsible for partnering with TDW advisors to deliver high value customized guidance and recommendations on retirement, tax, estate and overall wealth planning to high net worth (HNW) clients of TDW. Specifically, the Centralized Planner has accountability for:

Providing professional financial, tax, estate and risk management planning support and solutions to qualifying HNW clients of TDW;

Assisting TDW advisors and relationship managers with creating and updating financial plans, opportunity spotting, and revenue generation; and

Executing TDW's HNW strategy.

The Centralized Planner is an experienced practitioner whose expertise is leveraged by partners in TDW. He/she/they will support a dedicated region in driving the strategic vision of delivering wealth planning to TDW's clients.

Key responsibilities include:

Preparing customized wealth plans for TDW's HNW clients based on information obtained directly from their TDW advisor

Carrying out independent research to ensure client’s key issues (retirement, tax, philanthropic and estate planning) are addressed

Keeping informed of relevant wealth planning (retirement, tax, estate planning, etc.) developments and keeping TDW partners informed of developments

Proactively spotting opportunities for complimentary businesses and solutions

Working effectively to develop and maintain relationships with TDW advisors and Branch Managers

Delivering wealth planning presentations to TDW advisors

Developing strong internal networks and referral sources

Ensuring appropriate service levels are provided to maximize role profitability, minimize costs and manage business to avoid financial losses and reputational damage to TDBFG

Carry out other tasks and duties as assigned by manager from time to time

Education/Accreditations: 

Undergraduate degree

Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation

8 years of relevant experience in all aspects of Wealth Planning

Complex Financial Planning experience

Strong analytical and judgment skills

Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Voyant or other Financial Planning software expertise

Ability to work both as part of a team and independently

Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience: 

Minimum 8 years of financial or wealth planning experience gained at an accounting firm or financial institution

A self-starter with the ability to work independently and to provide high quality services to clients

Excellent people and relationship building skills

Strong communication, presentation, time management, and organizational skills

Computer proficiency (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.)

Professional designation such as CPA and/or LL.B is an asset

Investment and insurance industry knowledge is a strong asset
