Title: Ceramic and Composite Thermal Protection System Material and Process Engineer – Advanced Development Programs
Location: Space Coast, FL

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers you will be responsible for developing thermal protection systems (TPS) materials and processes. You will leverage your knowledge and expertise to define materials requirements, devise development plan, conduct testing and transition the material and process to the TPS manufacturing unit. The developed materials and processes will be applied to multiple launch vehicles.
You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of reusable launch vehicles. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in materials science or other relevant fields. 4= Years proven experienceFamiliarity with the operating environment of re-entry/ TPS materials. Familiarity with TPS materials state-of-the-art, especially ceramics, composites, ceramic matrix composites, and protective coatingsIn-depth knowledge in at least one of: SiC/SiC; C/SiC; C/C or similar composite; silica tiles or other fiber-based, low-density material, and anti-oxidation coatings. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Hands on experience with TPS material manufacturing process and equipment. In-depth knowledge of material (bulk materials and coatings) degradation mechanisms in re-entry condition. Experience in materials screening for TPS applications. Experience in development of TPS materials from ideation to flight hardware.
