As a Certified Athletic Trainer, responsibilities include the day-to-day care of injuries and medical emergencies that occur on camp facilities for campers, staff, guests and visiting athletes. Within this role there are varying degrees of processes in which must be understood and prioritized in order to successfully achieve the daily operations of this department.   

   

Certified Athletic Trainers should be knowledgeable in the injuries and sport injury prevention.

This position is classified under California's Camp Counselor exemption (LAB 1182.4 and Wage Order 5). Employees are paid a weekly salary of 85% of their hourly rate for hours worked between 40- 56 hours per week or will be paid at 85% of their hourly rate for each hour worked if the employee works less than 40 hours per week. Any hours worked over 56 will be paid at overtime rates, in accordance with California labor law.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

Maintain and be a knowledgeable resource of current and proposed standards of practice and state guidelines of athletic trainers     

Ensuring adherence to HIPPA standards     

Work along infirmary and transportation department to ensure the best care is provided to all on camp property      

Responsible to provide comprehensive athletic training services to all campers, guests, and staff    

 Attend and participate in staff training to acquire knowledge for behavior management techniques, emergency evacuation procedures, etc. 

Responsible for scheduling and follow-up evaluation and check-in appointments     

Responsible for maintaining records on campers, staff, and guests utilizing our internal platforms   

Liaison between parents, coaches, program staff, and athletes regarding injury care, prevention, management, and treatment.    

Train and develop student athletic trainers to ensure safety, health, and wellness are executed to Woodward's standards   

Ensure the Athletic Training Room is covered on a rotational basis during hours of operation

Provide on-call overnight coverage on a rotational basis every night via phone and radio coverage     

Other duties as assigned 

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:   

Well-spoken and articulate over the phone, through written contact and in person.   

Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines.   

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate supervision.   

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL SKILLS:   

Bachelor's degree   

NATABOC Certified Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Licensure   

CPR Certification   

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

+/- 10 campers in the clinic   

+/- 4 student athletic trainers   

BASIC/SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:   

Must successfully-pass a background screening to ensure suitability of contact with minor children and the public, in accordance with Federal, state and local jurisdictions.

Physical Capabilities: bend, twist, push, pull, stand, lift 50lbs.   

Camp attendance requirements: summer season: minimum commitment of 2 weeks (at least 4 weeks preferred)  

Must be comfortable working in an outdoor all-season environment.
