The CER opportunity will be working onsite at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA.
The schedule of this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 5pm.
**Job Description:**
Provides on-site support for the reprocessing of flexible endoscopes and related devices and equipment in compliance with manufacturers' instructions and or hospital policy.
The Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) is required to recertify annually through the completion of continuing education requirements. The CER will contribute to safe, quality and fiscally responsible cleaning of endoscopes per manufacturer and organizational instructions and adhere to all infection control policies at BIDMC.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Reprocesses and disinfects equipment and supplies per protocol. (essential)
+ Conducts quality assurance measures and maintains QA documentation. (essential)
+ Monitors equipment and supplies as needed. Transports equipment and supplies to and from CPD throughout the day. (essential)
+ Maintains working knowledge of department and industry standards for equipment, processes and protocols. (essential)
+ Addresses damange/repair of instrumentation upon arrival into decontamination area and reports activities to supervisor/manager. (essential)
+ Supports other areas and staff as needed, including but not limited to procedural room turn over. (essential)
**Required Qualifications:**
+ High School diploma or GED required.
+ CER certification; annual recertification required.
+ 1-3 years related work experience required.
+ Attention to detail.
+ Must be able to function in a fast pace environment.
+ Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Knowledge of hospital, infection control and medical terminology.

**Social/Environmental Requirements:**
+ Work requires close attention to task for work to be accurately completed. Intermittent breaks during the work day do not compromise the work.
+ Work routine is fairly consistent, but employee needs to be able to use judgment to respond to events several times a week.
+ Potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions. **Daily:** Exposure to dust, gas, fumes, steam, chemicals. Protective equipment required (Respirator, earplugs, mask, gloves, eyewear, etc.).
**Health Care Status:**
+ HCW1: Regular, day-to-day contact; both face-to-face and hands-on (having close contact within three feet for at least five minutes). Examples: physicians, clinical nurses, phlebotomist, medical assistants, PFT tech, and x-ray tech.- _Health Care Worker Status may vary by department_
**Sensory Requirements:**
+ Close work (paperwork, visual examination), Monitor Use, Visual monotony, Visual clarity <3 feet, Monitoring Equipment, Background Noise.
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 50 pounds of force frequently. Work is physically demanding and requires extended periods of standing and/or moving.
+ This job requires constant standing, Fine Manipulation using both hands, Endurance-working up to 5-6 hours without a break, frequent walking, Reaching-below shoulder height. There may be occasional Keyboard use, reaching above shoulder height.
