Summary
Join our dedicated, diverse and inclusive team of over 9,000 professionals at our new location, Moffitt Cancer Center at SouthShore, scheduled to open in January 2025. This location in Ruskin, FL, will function as an ambulatory campus, providing comprehensive cancer care to our patients.
Moffitt is establishing a network of Moffitt Ambulatory Centers (MACs), like the SouthShore location, within a 35-mile radius to support its distributed care model and bring our standard of care closer to our patients.
Job Summary:
To deliver individualized quality nursing care to cancer patients and families in accordance with established hospital guidelines, nursing professional practice model, nursing care standards and policies and in accordance with ANA code of ethics and external regulatory agencies. Registered Nurses embody the vision, mission, and philosophy of Moffitt Nursing and are committed to and accountable for personalized patient and family centered care and the concepts of Duffy's quality caring model/caring factors. Registered Nurses use the nursing process to effectively plan and manage quality patient care. Certified Medical Assistants are essential members of the clinic team. They contribute to the healthcare of patients by assisting with exams and procedures, organizing and managing patient flow, and taking on other responsibilities based on the needs of the department.The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following: Prior experience in an outpatient clinic setting as a Medical Assistant. Prior experience in a GYN Clinic as a Medical Assistant Experience handling sterilized equipment as a Medical Assistant Experience handling Colostomies, Pap smears, and thyroid biopsies as a Medical AssistantResponsibilities:
Assists patients with ambulation and/or movement on/off exam table, chairs and/or in and out of wheelchairs utilizing proper body mechanics and safety measures such as, lift equipment. After proper patient identification, performs initial patient screening, including vital signs, screening questions, allergy information, and medication history as appropriate. Notifies appropriate staff of positive screening or abnormal vital signs. Documents collected data completely and accurately in medical record including staff notifications. Loads images in preparation for provider visit, as needed. Ensures clinic patient flow is smooth and efficient. Keeps patients and clinical team informed of delays. Communicates effectively to patients, providers, nurses, and other team members. Assists practitioner in patient procedures/treatments/examinations, including room preparation, patient positioning, supplies, and equipment. Departs from clinic those patients that do not require nursing intervention. Maintains and uses principles of aseptic techniques and universal precautions when performing clinical duties and tasks. Maintains the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care or services based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area. Utilizes computerized systems according to departmental needs. Provides support to the provider during clinic by assisting with phone calls and faxes. Recognizes emergency situations and implements emergency procedures. Administers first aid and CPR.
Credentials and Qualifications (per Medical Assistant level):

Medical Assistant Trainee:
High school diploma or GED, required. BLS, required. Completion of Medical Assistant Program CMA Certification required within 6 months from date of hire.
Clinical Assistant:
High school diploma or GED, required. BLS, required. 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic setting or equivalent role CMA Certification required within 6 months from date of hire.
Certified Medical Assistant:
High school diploma or GED, required. BLS, required. CMA certification, required.
Certified Medical Assistant II:
High school diploma or GED, required. BLS, required. CMA certification, required. 2 years of Medical Assistant experience, required.
