Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant - Float

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Certified Medical Assistant - Float to join our team. You will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care across multiple locations, ensuring the best patient experience and supporting the healthcare team in a variety of tasks.

ResponsibilitiesEscort patients from the waiting room to the exam room, utilizing EMR to assign rooms and move patients accordingly.Take a history of visit and chief complaints, and document in EMR.Maintain a professional attitude and attire, ensuring a clean and neat uniform, short fingernails, no large jewelry, and no facial piercings for safety and infection control.Complete intake on patients by obtaining medical and surgical history, chief complaint, smoking status, depression screening, allergy information, and social history. Document all data in EMR.Obtain vital signs including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiration rate, pulse oximetry, height, and weight following protocol.Instruct and assist patients in removing shoes for accurate weight measurement and inspection of feet, especially for diabetic patients.Inquire about dental needs for OB patients and assist in scheduling dental appointments.Wear a wrist-watch with a second hand as part of the uniform requirement to provide safe and quality patient care and obtain accurate vital signs.Review the level of pain with patients and document all vital signs in the patient's chart in EMR.Perform dipstick urinalysis, pregnancy tests (OB), vision and hearing tests, and head circumference measurements (Pediatrics). Document findings in EMR and collaborate with providers for further follow-up as needed.Maintain an accurate daily temperature log for refrigerator/freezer temperatures to assure vaccine and medication safety, update the log monthly, and file previous month logs.Clean the refrigerator/freezer monthly and maintain an up-to-date cleaning log.Document appropriate and accurate patient data in the NJIIS Registry and provide patients/guardians with vaccine side effect education booklets as per NJ State requirements.Telephone patients as required.Monitor patient flow, assist in the preparation of exam rooms and patient charts, and work effectively with the care team to deliver safe and quality care.Assist providers during exams and procedures as requested.Follow standard precautions when administering patient care and adhere to techniques outlined in the Infection Control Policy.Clean and disinfect exam room tables and equipment after each patient and prepare rooms for the next patient.Call 'No Show' patients within 30 minutes after the missed appointment, assist in rescheduling, and document accordingly.Maintain logs for all medical devices as designated in each department.Provide for patient privacy, cultural sensitivity, comfort, safety, and hygiene in a non-judgmental way.Identify all patients using two indicators (name and date of birth) prior to administering care.Ensure patient care equipment is clean and properly stored.Maintain inventory of routine medical supplies and order supplies monthly and as needed.Check supplies for expiration dates as required.Disinfect and clean all treatment rooms at the end of each shift.Prepare charts for providers for the following day, including labs, x-rays, ultrasounds, consultations, and hospital reports. Document all objective and subjective findings in EMR for provider review.Seek proper assistance with difficult venipuncture or any concerns or abnormal objective findings.Assist with managing inventory and sterilization of all medical equipment for the OB/GYN department.Clean instruments for ultrasonic cleaning and sterilization after each use following established infection control policy.Coordinate the delivery/receipt of all instruments and equipment sent for sterilization processing, maintaining instrument logs and availability.Maintain and stock all equipment for all exam rooms and inventory.Maintain appropriate paperwork for inventory control and review orders received for completeness.Participate in staff development and educational programs.Maintain current CPR certification.Attend continuing education and collaborative meetings.Develop and maintain good human relations skills and display a respectful, caring attitude at all times.Accept constructive criticism and demonstrate positive behavior changes.Introduce self by name to patients/significant others throughout appointments.Report all necessary information and/or unusual occurrences in accordance with established policies and procedures.Complete incident reports immediately as per policy in all required situations.Report actions of others that negatively impact patient care.Promote and deliver optimum care to the satisfaction of all patients.Complete all mandatory in-services and attend all required meetings.Report to any site as scheduled.Essential SkillsGraduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist program.Current National Certification as a Medical Assistant.Basic Life Support for providers through the American Heart Association.Effective people skills.Proficiency in Microsoft 365.Additional Skills & QualificationsFlexible schedule to meet the needs of the organization and hours of operation.Rotation of sites and weekend shifts may be required.Reliable transportation to various sites as needed.Bilingual in Spanish and EnglishWork Environment

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Float across two locations: Little Egg Harbor, and Stafford. Work environments include a variety of services such as Behavioral Health, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Lab Services, Nutrition Counseling, Women's Health, and more. You will be expected to adapt to different locations and maintain a professional demeanor. Uniform requirements include a clean and neat uniform, short fingernails, no large jewelry, no facial piercings, and wearing a wrist-watch with a second hand

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00
