Certified Medical Assistant
Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant - Podiatry + The role requires traveling to West Orange and Montclair offices, with a rotation to other sites as needed. Job Description Join a busy podiatry orthopedic office as a Medical Assistant supporting back office functions. You will be responsible for patient intakes, vital checks, medication reconciliation, chart preparation, and assisting with orthopedic injections. This role involves preparing patient rooms, completing prior authorizations, reviewing MRI reports, restocking rooms, and managing inventory. Additionally, you will triage phone calls, update patient records, and maintain the electronic medical record system. Opportunities for cross-training in spine, pain management, and orthopedics are available. Responsibilities + Conduct patient intakes and load rooms + Perform vital checks and medication reconciliation + Prepare charts prior to patient visits + Prep orthopedic injections for doctor to administer + Prepare patient rooms and restock supplies + Complete prior authorizations and review MRI reports + Triage phone calls for physicians and patients + Update patient records and electronic medical records using Athena + Maintain inventory and restock supply closets + Cross-train in spine, pain management, and orthopedics Essential Skills + Medical assisting + Patient care + MUST HAVE: + Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited school + 1+ year of medical assistant experience + Experience with electronic medical records (preferably Athena) Additional Skills & Qualifications + Podiatry experience strongly preferred + Experience working in a high-volume office Work Environment + This position operates in a podiatry orthopedic office with shifts from Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with the possibility of staying later until the last patient leaves. + The weekly schedule is provided in advance, with some days starting at 7:30 AM and others at 8:00 AM. + Weekend hours are available on a volunteer basis. + The role requires traveling to West Orange and Montclair offices, with a rotation to other sites as needed. + The office typically has 4-5 doctors present each day, handling 40-130 patients daily.
