Summary:
Vighter is recruiting multiple Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) or Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to provide medical service and medical support within the Customs and Border Protection – Immigration and Customs Enforcement mission, with dozens of locations across the United States’ Southern borders, to include California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Florida. The CMA or CNA will be working alongside uniformed Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Agents/ Officers in secured federal facilities along the southwest border of the United States. They will obtain medical history, performs interviews, and completes all necessary charting requirements including vital signs on patients entering the facility. Any medical concerns or questions are referred to the Advanced Practice Provider (APP), Physician, or in some instances a RN. The CMA or CNA will also be responsible for ensuring patient comfort, explaining procedures, and maintaining accurate records in compliance with all law, statue and healthcare regulations. The standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding all recognized national standards.
Principle Accountabilities:
Provides care and treatment of patients throughout the life span as appropriate todiscipline and medical unit setting.
Is expected to respond to medical emergencies. Assists with gathering patient information or data during routine medical care. Assists with minor care, treatments, or procedures under the guidance of the APP, Physician, or in assistance of a RN, EMT, or Paramedic. Performs care through consultation with covering physician or APP to work within the guidance of Standing Orders or Protocols set in place by a physician. Participates as a member of the healthcare team to ensure that needed equipment, supplies, and logs are available, clean, functional, maintained, completed, and up to date as applicable. Provides emergency care to employees or visitors for life, loss of sight/limb situations until Emergency Medical Services arrives. Provides direct care to patients that may include:a. Assistance with feeding and/or meal set up.
b. Assistance with basic hygienic measures and/or activities of daily living.
c. Assistance with ambulation or transfer for those injured of with disabilities.
d. Assistance with bed linen changes or collecting of clothing or linen.
e. Vital signs and interview.
Initiates and maintains compliance with DHS and CBP policies, federal regulations and any overriding accreditation standards that may apply. Maintains compliance with standard operating procedures and protocols. Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy of medical records. Performs record keeping functions in accordance with program policies and the system of records management. Ability to operate effectively in the electronic medical record and must maintain an “active status” for use and complete all required trainings. Utilizes the electronic medical records system for all documentation, to include, but not limited to all patient care, monitoring, medication administration/observation documentation, and input or scanning of any paper records as applicable. Assures a safe and clean working environment and assists in the disposal of biologically hazardous waste on a regular basis. Performs quality control of laboratory reagents, collects specimens, and performs CLIA waived testing. Participates with Medical Quality Management initiatives, processes, audits, studies, or committees as required. Provides emergency care to help stabilize employees or visitors for life, death, loss of sight/limb situations until Emergency Medical Services arrive. Functional proficiency and ability to document patient-centered health care in the required electronic health record or electronic medical record, in the required format, in a timely manner, and in compliance with contract policy and guidance. Provide training and support to remote employees on timekeeping systems and processes, including troubleshooting issues and providing guidance on using timekeeping tools effectively. Stay informed about changes in timekeeping technology, regulations, and best practices, and make recommendations for updates and improvements to timekeeping processes. Successful completion of a program in Medical or Nursing Assistant certification program located in the state of employment or recognized as being valid where employed. Program must be accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.Qualifications:
Must have one (1) year of experience as a certified medical assistant or certified nursing assistant in a clinical setting. Candidates must have an active, current certification as a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant. Basic or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (BLS / ACLS) certification. Bilingual proficiency (Spanish preferred) is highly desirable.Duty Hours / On-call Requirements:
