Job Overview:
Hudson County Cardiology is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to perform routine clinical and clerical tasks under the direction of a physician or other health practitioner. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs, medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, processing prescription refills, and assisting with minor procedures as directed by a physician or health practitioner. The CMA acts as a practice ambassador, contributing to overall patient experience, safety, and privacy.

High School Diploma or GED At least 6 months of relevant experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experiencePreferred:
Bilingual Cardiology experiencePhlebotomy and EKGKnowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systemsCertifications and Licenses Required:
BLS Certification approved by the American Heart Association Medical Assistant Certification: NHA, NCCT, AMT, AAMA, NCMA, AMCA, AECA, or NAHPScheduling Requirements:

Maintain drug cabinetSchedule testing in or out of officeTakes patients' brief history and vital signsCall in patients prescriptions to pharmaciesPrepares patients for examination and treatmentAssists with both front office and back office dutiesMaintains patient files, records and other informationAnswers phones and schedules patient appointmentsAssists physicians with patient treatment and minor surgeriesCall patients or other physicians with results of exams and testsPrepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instrumentsAssist physician in providing primary health care and management of patient careMaintain inventory of medical and pharmaceutical supplies, order and stock as neededTelephones patient follow-up on their condition after office visit as per the physicians instructionsGreets patients, update demographics, verifies insurance, and collects payments as necessaryCommunicate with insurance carriers to obtain authorizations for procedures and pharmaceuticalsHandles patients requests for medical information, copies of medical records, refills, test results, etcIs responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errorsPerforms routine medical testing, i,e, blood testing, ekgs, urinalysis, rapid strep tests and drug screening, injections and vaccinationsAs instructed by the physician with signature, obtains patient release forms in accordance with patient confidentiality and medical record release policiesOther duties as assignedBenefits and Perks:
