Certified Medical Assistant - North Clinic (1.0 FTE)
The Certified Medical Assistant (MA) has achieved their MA certification, can function independently of their preceptor, and is responsible to provide general direct and indirect patient care duties, in the clinic setting, under the direct supervision of a provider. The certified medical assistant will not triage patients, will not provide care prior to provider evaluation, will not provide care they are not competent in doing, will not advise patient without direct provider instruction, and will not identify as a “nurse”. All staff is considered first to be an employee of St. Peter’s Medical Group first. Because of this, there is an expectation that they may float to other SPHMG areas when not needed in assigned area. The Certified Medical Assistant has completed the below criterion to obtain this level: + Able to successfully room for 16 patients, while completing an average of 30 indirect patient care tasks daily (i.e. medication referrals, in-basket messages, work queues right fax) + Begin to learn specialty specific tasks – for instance, catheterizing patients, immunization administration, POCT, correct placement of Holter monitor, EKGs, casting, and other duties deemed necessary for specific areas.
