Job Description
We are seeking a certified medical assistant to join our primary care office Northern New Jersey. This role involves heavy documentation, EKG experience, manual blood pressure monitoring, and scheduling patient appointments. You will primarily support one doctor, rooming patients, and preparing charts. This position requires strong back-office functions, including patient intakes, vital checks, medication reconciliation, and preparing patient rooms and orthopedic injections for the doctor to administer.
ResponsibilitiesDocument patient information accurately and thoroughlyPerform EKGs and measure manual blood pressuresSchedule appointments for patientsRoom patients and prepare charting for the assigned doctorConduct patient intakes and load roomsPerform vital checks and medication reconciliationPrepare charts prior to patient visitsPrepare and set up rooms for orthopedic injectionsComplete prior authorizationsRestock rooms and supply closets, and complete inventoryTriage phone calls for physicians or patient inquiriesUpdate patient records and electronic medical records (Athena)Prep days include preparing patient charts, files for EMR, loading rooms for other physicians, updating disability and FMLA forms, cleaning and stocking rooms, and taking inventoryManage record releases and update patient buckets and casesEssential SkillsMinimum 1+ year(s) of medical assistant experience in a primary care officeCertified Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited programExperience with electronic medical records (preferably Athena)Experience in primary care, GYN, pediatric, or urgent care settingsProficiency in appointment scheduling, customer service, and medical terminologyBasic Life Support (BLS) certificationAdditional Skills & QualificationsStrong organizational and multitasking abilitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsDetail-oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentWork EnvironmentThis role operates in a primary care office with a steady team and minimal changes to physician assignments.The office sees 15-20+ patients on an average day, with appointment times ranging from 20 to 40 minutes, resulting in a slower workflow.The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with one Saturday per month from 8 AM to 12 PM.Weekday shifts vary based on the physician's schedule, typically totaling 40 hours per week.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr.
