NaphCare is hiring a Certified Medication Technician just like you at the City of Roanoke Adult Detention Center located in Roanoke, VA.  Pay rates range per hour based on shift, site needs, and experience.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for Medication Technician:

Provide medication administration to patients in accordance with doctor’s orders, state regulations and 
company policy including: processing orders, securing medication, pouring, preparing, administering, 
documentation and documentation of results. Med Tech must have basic understanding of diabetes, diabetic care, diabetic medications, glucometer 
management, finger stick blood sugar testing, insulin administration and be able to recognize and act 
upon symptoms of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia as indicated per State regulations.Med Tech is responsible for proper management of narcotic medications to include ordering, procuring, 
maintaining chain of command, storage, reconciliation and documentation.Observe patients for changes in physical, emotional, mental or behavioral condition, unusual symptoms, 
medication side effects, accidents, injuries or unusual occurrence and reports immediately to Charge 
Nurse.Responsible to assure referral and follow-up relevant to health care issues is completed.Ensure sound infection control practices in the management and delivery of patient care, medications 
and/or treatments.Perform medication cart audits and assist in maintaining the medication cart and medication room in a 
neat and orderly manner.Respond to all patient needs and/or requests for care promptly and provide or obtain assistance as 
necessary.Complete all required documentation such as but not limited to medication administration records, 
incident reports, change of condition reports, medication refusal reports and behavioral documentation 
as requested and required in a timely manner.Vital sign monitoring will be performed as needed or directed by regulations, policy or primary care 
provider’s order. Qualifications

Qualifications for Medication Technician:

Certified Nurse Assistant or Medical Assistant and have completed the 32 hour Medication Aide course OR be a Medication Aide and have completed the 68 hour Medication Aide courseMust possess all required licenses and/or certifications required by VA Maintain continuing education requirementsValid CPR cardHigh school diploma or equivalentMinimum of one (1) year previous experience as a direct care aid in a health care settingCorrectional healthcare experience is preferred
