Position Summary:

As a Certified Medicine Aide (CMA), at Levindale your role is to Assist residents with activities and daily living, provides basic and more complex nursing care, and assists in maintaining a safe, clean therapeutic environment.

Essential Functions:

Safely prepares, administers, and charts medication, oral, typical and suppository, non-narcotic drugs as ordered by physician. Reports/documents medications not administered as well as those given. Keeps medicine cart locked when unattended. Follows the state mandated guidelines for medication administration. Provides basic nursing care and helps patients with daily living skills. Notifies Nurse Manager, or Assistant Director of Nursing of any medication discrepancies. Attends the training on and actively demonstrates Person First behaviors, principles and practices. Supports a Quality of Life by building relationships with residents/patients and actively participating in the areas of environment of care, the dining experience, safety and meaningful patient/ resident activities. Provides AM/PM care, which may include bed bath, oral hygiene, combing hair, shaving, dressing residents, changing bed linen, cleaning over bed table and bedside stand and straightening room. Provides turning and positioning every two hours when indicated. Performs routine treatment procedures including application of devices for heat, cold, etc. Takes temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height and blood pressure accurately and in a timely Prepares resident for meals. Assists with meals or feeds residents. Distributes drinking water and nourishment to residents in a timely manner. Answers call lights in a timely manner. Anticipates resident needs. Makes rounds of assigned residents. Assists with handling of care of clothing and other personal property Collects and transports specimens according to procedure. Maintains a safe environment for the resident: bed in low position, side rails up per policy, call light within resident's reach, etc.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma, GED equivalent or High School certificate. Less than 1 year of experience. Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) Certification, Certified Medicine Aide Certification, American Heart Association CPR.
