As a Nurse Assistant at Lurie Children's, you will be at the heart of our pediatric care team, making a difference each day by supporting other nursing staff in compassionate and top-quality patient care.

Nurse Assistants:
Help to warmly welcome families to the inpatient clinic area.
Assist with taking and documenting vital signs, documentation of medical information, point of care testing, medical procedures, and intra hospital transport. All while ensuring that patients and their families are safe and comfortable.
NAs contribute to maintain the function and efficiency of the unit, such as ensuring rooms are neat and tidy and timely patient rounds. NAs also help nursing staff ensure that all medical equipment is stocked and in clean, working condition and that medical waste is disposed of properly.
Pediatric Surgical Unit Information:
The 48 bed, Pediatric Medical Surgical Unit’s patient population includes a variety of diagnoses and specialty services such as Pediatric Surgery, Kidney, Liver/GI, Urology, Plastic Surgery, and ENT.
Teamwork is at the core of the Pediatric Medical Surgical Unit care delivery where nurses and nurse aides collaborate with physicians, APPs (Advanced Practice Providers), allied health professionals, and family services providers to provide an individualized, comprehensive approach for each patient and family.
Position we are hiring for:
• Day and Nightshift and every third weekend
• Staff must remain in current position for at least six months before qualifying for position changes
• Position openings for different start times will be released by the Scheduling Committee based off of unit needs; positions are filled by seniority
Minimum Qualifications:
1.High School Diploma or equivalent.
2.Successful completion of an accredited CNA Program.
3.Current certification as a CNA in the State of Illinois, active/good standing. 4.Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association. 5. Minimum of one year experience in hospital setting required, pediatrics preferred.

Orientation: •4 weeks of nursing assistant orientation.
•Orientation classes including skills day, assessment classes, medical surgical support training, behavioral health training (Welle), clinical exchanges, BLS & PALS.
