Join our dynamic team teaching daily and independent living skills, providing individual and group counseling, and promoting community integration. The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and a willingness to help with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as assisting with showering, toileting, grooming, laundry and housekeeping as necessary. YAI empowers people with disabilities to reach their goals every day.

As a CNA in the program the job duties are but not limited to:

Turning or moving the people we support (i.e. From wheelchair to bed)Gathering medical suppliesDocumenting food and liquid intakeChecking vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rateAnswering callsScheduling/Following up on AppointmentsDocumenting additional informationCleaning rooms and bed linensStocking suppliesAssisting with some medical procedures with the RN and LPNSafety proceduresBeing familiar with Hoyer LiftsTaking care of woundsAdhering to policies, procedures, and regulationsUsing effective communication skills & time management skillsBeing a member of a highly effective team (Teamwork within the circle of support)Completing mandatory trainings based on the program and position (AMAP, CPR/First Aid, SCIP-R, Defensive Driving, etc.), as well as applying skillsMeeting and demonstrating OPWDD Core CompetenciesEnsuring health, wellness and safety by managing crisis situations and providing appropriate supervision of the people we supportDemonstrating a willingness to assist people with ADLsTransporting and escorting people we support on recreational activities, medical appointment, home visits, etc.Building Positive relationshipsMaintaining a therapeutic environment through a variety of methods: Personal Outcome Measures, Person Centered Thinking, Informed Decision MakingEnsuring person centered plans are implementedCompleting documentation to ensure compliance and billingUsing foundational Teaching skills (EMOE, Task analysis, essential skills, supports and modifications,

Schedule: 

Full Time: (Varies) Generally includes 1 weekend day

Compensation:

$20.00 - $20.00 hourly.

Requirements:

Active CNA State CertificationHigh School Diploma or GED ; some college is a plusValid Driver's License, NY State preferredWork or life experience supporting people with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferredAbility to participate in 3-5 weekdays of paid NYS Mandated OPWDD initial trainings during normal business hours upon hireTuberculosis test mandatory for most positions (provided FREE of charge by our Premier HealthCare clinic)
