Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) - East Campus - PRN
**Employment Type:** Part time **Shift:** Day Shift **Description:** **Position Purpose:** This individual assists the Occupational Therapist in the preparation of patients for treatment, provides certain occupational therapy procedures to the patient, maintains occupational therapy equipment in a clean and aesthetic manner, and is responsible for written/verbal communications between the rehab department and our customers. **What you will Do:** + Assists Occupational Therapist in performing tests, evaluations, and developing treatment plans and techniques to implement plan. + Treats patients in accordance with established treatment plan. + Communicates with patient, family and other multidisciplinary team members and service providers. + Monitors patients’ response to intervention and communicates observations of patients’ response to treatment to Occupational Therapist. + Completes required documentation on patients and maintains other department, in accordance with departmental and health center policies and procedures. + Promotes efficient utilization of resources/supplies, ensures charges are appropriate based on services provided. + Assists Inpatient Rehab Manager in orientation, training, and evaluation of employees. **Hours/Schedule:** PRN; As needed. Typical hours are 8:00am - 4:30pm. At this time, there are no weekend or holiday rotations. **Minimum Qualifications:** + Graduate of an American Occupational Therapy Association Occupational Therapy Assistant Education Program required. + Licensed as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the State of Iowa required. + Prefer demonstrated competence in an acute care setting for at least one year. + Ability to communicate with patient and instruct them in exercise programs. + Must provide proof of **Basic Life Support** ( **BLS Provider** -American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status. + Must provide proof of **Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse** training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines **Position Highlights and Benefits** + Education Assistance offered + Effective Day 1 Benefit Package (Medical, Dental, Vision, and more) for positions 16 hours per week or greater + Competitive wages; including weekend and night differentials + Generous paid time off program + Retirement Savings program with employer match starting on Day 1 **Ministry/Facility Information:** **MercyOne North Iowa** Medical Center provides expert health care to 15 counties.
