Job Summary: Assist licensed Occupational Therapist in screening and evaluating patients by collecting data and information and reporting data to Occupational Therapist in setting short and long term goals and selecting therapy techniques and media. May perform and record results of Activities of Daily Living evaluation and other objective evaluations. Engages patient in daily purposeful therapy program under direction of Occupational Therapist to achieve program goals. All duties and responsibilities are to be carried out with empathy and compassion towards patients and their families as well as co-workers.

Minimum Requirements: 

Graduation from an accredited school for Occupational Therapy Assistants.  Successful completion of the American Occupational Therapy Certification Seam.  Licensed by the State of North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy.  Current CPR certification required.  The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.  The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age, specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's departmental policies and procedures.
