Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant - Part Time
Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant provides occupational therapy services including treatment, implementation, standardized assessment data, and documentation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Provides interventions to impact patient’s functional ability (muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, written and verbal communication skills, self-care ability, work capacity, etc.) as delegated by the Occupational Therapist + Understands the role of therapy in the context of the patient's age, total needs perspective and Environment + Participates in the ongoing assessment of the patient for equipment needs, and the reduction of barriers or safety risks (if applicable) + Teaches new skills or retrains patients in once-familiar daily activities that have become difficult or unfamiliar due to illness or injury + Consistently reports to the Occupational Therapist regarding patient progress/status to promote modification of treatment program and any adverse outcomes + Ensures that patient/family understands when and how to receive further treatment + Maintains timely, legible, and efficient patient-care documentation + Notes remain concise, pertinent and meet client documentation standards + Instructs patient and/or family/caregiver in the use of various types of adaptive equipment and/or splints to improve function. + Ensures equipment is in good working order + Trains patient and/or family/caregiver in use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices + May utilize physical agents, including but not limited to heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massage + Identifies patient and/or family/caregiver needs for other supportive services and notifies the Occupational Therapist + Reports patient’s reactions(s) to treatment or change(s) in condition to the physician and Occupational Therapist + Prepares and submits clinical progress-summaries based on the progress toward goals and responses to treatment + Participates in discharge of patient at point of optimal benefit of treatment, making appropriate provision for continuing services if needed + Participates in case conferences, meetings and in-service education + Complies with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding professional standards and practice standards + Performs other duties as assigned/necessary Minimum Requirements: + Current certification or licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of practice + Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy Assistant required + One (1) year of experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant preferred + Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice + Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable + Current CPR if applicable + TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable + Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) + Must meet all federal, state and local requirements + Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site + Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements + Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required + Computer proficiency required + Must be at least 18 years of age Benefits At Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits: + Competitive pay & weekly paychecks + Health, dental, vision, and life insurance + 401(k) savings plan + Awards and recognition programs *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.
