Under the direction of a supervisor or physician, you will receive and prepare patients for examination or treatment. 

 

A caregiver in this position works 8:00am—5:00pm.   

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Document patient information in the patient medical record. 

Perform stocking, maintenance and other related duties as assigned, including maintaining exam rooms, equipment and supplies. 

Perform clinical and technical ophthalmic duties and basic patient care as directed by physician or supervisor. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

High School Diploma or equivalent. 

Successful completion of the written exam for Certified Ophthalmic Assistant. 

Recent graduate an Ophthalmic Technology Program (not yet COT certified). 

1 year experience providing direct patient care under the supervision of an Ophthalmologist. 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Experience performing visual field testing, fundus photography, OCT, IOL Master, and contact lens I & R.

Physical Requirements:

Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and PC.

Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.

May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.

Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
