Responsibilities: + Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students’ visual impairments and their impact on learning. + Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments. + Provide direct instruction and support to students in areas such as orientation, mobility, and adaptive technology. + Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other specialists to ensure students’ access to the curriculum. + Teach skills related to independent travel, spatial awareness, and environmental navigation. + Attend IEP meetings and contribute expertise on orientation and mobility. + May work with students who have additional disabilities. Job Qualifications + Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. + Knowledge of adaptive technology and assistive devices. + Experience working with students with visual impairments preferred. + Strong communication and collaboration skills.
