As a Peer Specialist, you'll emphasize the acquisition, development, and expansion of recovery skills to enable individuals to fully engage in their recovery journey. Our ideal candidate is passionate about supporting recovery, has personal experience with mental health and/or substance use services, and strong communication and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate & Create: Work closely with individuals to craft personalized treatment plans that meet their unique needs and goals.
Communicate & Connect: Maintain open lines of communication with referral sources and guardians, discussing progress, transitions, and clinical insights.
Continuity of Care: Actively participate in meetings to ensure seamless care and support for each individual.
Resource Navigation: Research and refer individuals to essential outside resources, ensuring they receive comprehensive support.
Appointment Coordination: Schedule and transport clients to Recovery Support Services and other community-based services, ensuring timely and reliable access.
Professional Representation: Accompany clients to appointments when needed, embodying the agency’s professional standards.
Medical Access & Documentation: Assist clients in accessing medical services and meticulously document all activities per state and CARF standards.
Crisis Intervention & Group Facilitation: Offer crisis intervention and lead group education sessions, empowering clients through knowledge and support.
Professional Growth: Pursue continuous professional development, meeting required training hours every two years to stay current and effective.
Peer Support: Leverage your experience to foster recovery and resilience in individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.
Community Engagement: Help individuals build meaningful connections within their community and Recovery Supports, providing transportation as necessary.
Information & Support Access: Guide individuals in accessing critical information and support for mental health and substance use disorders.
Empowerment & Independence: Encourage individuals to make informed choices and take an active role in their treatment journey.
Strength Identification: Assist individuals in recognizing and utilizing their strengths and resources for a successful recovery.
Goal Achievement: Support clients in setting and achieving recovery goals through mentoring, advocacy, and coaching.
Emotional & Practical Support: Provide comprehensive support to help clients feel connected and develop essential recovery skills.
Lifestyle Encouragement: Inspire clients to embrace a healthy, productive, and sober lifestyle, both during their time in the facility and beyond.
Active Engagement: Facilitate the creation of personal treatment plans, motivating participants to engage actively in their own recovery process.
Ethical Adherence: Uphold the highest ethical and confidentiality standards of the facility.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
Missouri Specific:

High School education or equivalentTwo (2) years of responsible employment history.If required, complete a 5-Day Basic Training Program; following which, the individual must pass a State of Missouri approved certification examination within six months.Additional Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect and build rapport with clients.
Empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to make informed decisions.
