Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Functions in accordance with Burrell Behavioral Health Operational Guidelines and within his/her professional code of ethics.Provides practical role modeling, utilizing his/her experience and ability to meet the needs of the client and the goals of treatment, and engages in any other activities that meet those needs and goals.Implements guidelines, procedures and program rules accurately and consistently Assists client’s participation and implementation in treatment planning with other team member and client.Promotes skills for coping with and managing addictions and mental health symptoms while encouraging the use of natural supports and enhancing community living.Share lived experiences of recovery, sharing and supporting the use of recovery tools and model successful recovery behaviors.Helps clients develop a network of information and support in the community.Assists clients with identifying their strengths and personal resources to aid in their recovery, make independent choices and take a pro-active role in their own treatment.Teach and model symptom management and problem-solving skills Observe, record and communicate clients’ behaviors, strengths, progress, areas of difficulty and needs in a timely manner, utilizing established mechanisms and program formats Complete any documentation in a timely manner.Provide transportation as clinically appropriate Assists in maintaining facility cleanliness by completing designated facility tasks.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Must be a Certified Missouri Peer Specialist with at least a high school diploma or GED.Missouri Certified Peer SpecialistAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceAbility to communicate effectively before groups of clients, employees of the organization, family members and other contacts in the communityAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsAbility to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram formAbility to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situationsShall successfully complete all mandatory continuing education to maintain certificate and successfully complete CPR, First Aid, and CPI TrainingShall be able to establish effective relationships via telephone and personal contacts. Shall be able to follow direction and accept supervisionShall have the ability to work with a variety of human problems and the competence to handle crisis interventionShall be able to enter clinical documentation into a computerized record system

Other Qualifications:

Burrell Behavioral Health requires drivers of licensed company vehicles and those using their own vehicles for business purposes have the appropriate driver’s license, insurance coverage, and meet the auto liability carrier’s driver’s criteria.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk and sometimes sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is also required to be able to walk and sometimes run up and down stairs.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The employee must be able to perform duties, both indoors and outdoors, under all weather conditions.
