The Charles Evans Center (CEC) is a leading not-for-profit organization located in Nassau County. CEC serves adolescents and adults with addiction and behavioral health needs. CCBHC Peer Specialist
The CCBHC Peer Specialist will provide peer support services based on need as identified by the CCBHC program. Will work as a fully integrated team member providing peer recovery support to individuals in the outpatient clinics and in the community. The Peer Specialist provide engagement and education, peer support, and advocacy and linkage services.
In this position, you will:
+ Provide peer support services and outreach as identified in the treatment plan.
+ Offer outreach, advocacy, mentoring and recovery support services to those seeking or sustaining recovery.
+ Provide linkages and referrals to other services and supports including: local self-help groups, food resources, shelter and benefits.
+ Accompany CCBHC clients to medical appointment, court appearances and other support services as needed as a support
+ Assists with applying for benefits/entitlements
+ Models effective coping skills and help peers self-monitor their progress
We Require:
+ High School or Equivalent required
+ NYS OMH Certified Peer Specialist or be enrolled in a Peer Specialist Intern Program
+ Should have a have working knowledge of the mental health and substance use services in Nassau County
+ Must have NYS Driver’s License
