Position Purpose:

The Certified Peer Specialist at Pittsburgh Mercy plays a pivotal role in fostering a supportive and empathetic environment for individuals navigating mental health challenges and/or addiction. This position aims to utilize the unique perspective gained through personal lived experiences to empower and connect with clients on their journey towards recovery.

What You Will Do:

Peer Support Advocacy: Provide compassionate and non-judgmental peer support to individuals facing mental health challenges and/or addiction, fostering a sense of understanding and hope.Individualized Recovery Planning: Collaborate with clients to develop personalized recovery plans, identifying goals, strengths, and resources that promote resilience and well-being.Community Engagement: Actively engage with the local community to reduce stigma surrounding mental health and addiction, promoting awareness and understanding through educational initiatives.Group Facilitation: Lead support groups and workshops to create a safe space for individuals to share their experiences, build a sense of community, and develop coping strategies.Resource Navigation: Assist clients in navigating and accessing community resources, mental health services, and addiction treatment options, ensuring a holistic approach to their recovery journey.

Minimum Qualifications: 

High School Diploma/EquivalentMust hold a PA Certified Peer Specialist Certification (CPS) OR completed the Certified Peer Specialist training program (must qualify to sit for the certification exam within 6 months of hire).Valid Driver License and ability to drive an organization vehicleAct 33/34/73 ClearancesPre-Employment Drug Screen

Schedule: This is a Non-Exempt (hourly) position

Part-time position (20hours). Will typically work a daylight schedule Monday through Friday however flexibility is required regarding some evenings or weekends to accommodate consumer need.
