Certified Pharmacy Technician Infusion - Kenwood

Job Overview: The Pharmacy Technician III plays a vital role in hospital pharmacy operations. Working under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, this position involves assisting in the preparation, distribution, and management of medications for inpatient and outpatient units, emergency rooms, and operating rooms. Responsibilities include selecting, counting, compounding, packing, labeling, and delivering medications.

This role also includes preparing sterile compounds, such as chemotherapy and hazardous substances, while maintaining the sterile environment of the IV room. Proficiency in accessing electronic health records and pharmacy automated systems is required. The Pharmacy Technician III will rotate across multiple areas of the pharmacy to maintain competency and broaden their expertise.

Work Hours:

Full-time, 80 hours bi-weekly Day shift No weekends or holidays

Job Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED. Active National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) through PTCB or ExCPT AND active registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Ability to compound sterile products and maintain a sterile environment. Up to 1 year of technical pharmacy experience as a Pharmacy Technician II. Infusion pharmacy experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and distribute compounded sterile products, including chemotherapy and hazardous medications, following USP 797, USP 800, and other standards. Maintain cleanroom logs and adhere to safety protocols. Assist in non-sterile medication preparation, including counting, compounding, labeling, and delivering medications. Manage and resolve discrepancies in automated dispensing machines. Ensure accurate controlled substance inventory and report unresolved discrepancies. Maintain pharmacy automation, troubleshoot issues, and optimize workflow for efficient operations. Respond professionally to requests from pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and patients. Train new employees as needed.

Additional Information:

Must have completed Pharmacy Technician II requirements to qualify for this position. Will work with hazardous and toxic substances. Training in hazardous medication compounding is required, and availability for hazardous medication preparation is necessary.
