Certified Quality Team Member (QA Tech)
The Certified Quality Team Member (QA Technician) will perform the necessary routine procedures to monitor the quality of in-process and packaged products, as well as incoming additives (ingredients) for in-process pasta. The Certified Quality Team Member will also perform the required procedures related to non-compliance issues in these areas. This position will interact with all plant personnel and must have good oral and written skills to communicate deviations from standards and corrective actions.

Schedule: Rotating 2-2-3 Schedule, 12 Hour Shifts

1st Shift (B Shift): 6:00am to 6:30am

Salary, Based on Experience and Other Qualification:

1st Shift (B Shift): $26.52 to $27.20

Skills/Abilities Required:

High School Diploma or Equivalent.Minimum 6 months experience in a manufacturing facility (Food Processing, Packing or QA/Laboratory preferred).Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills.Basic math to determine percentages and calculate test results (use of calculator is essential).Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety issues.Must be able to work with little supervision in a fast-paced environment.Computer literate.  Basic skills necessary for using e-mail, Microsoft Word and Excel.

Key Accountabilities/Representative Duties:

Responsible for verification and implementation of facility’s Food Safety Programs and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)Ensure compliance to procedures in accordance to Food Safety Plan, Quality Management System and BRC ProgramsConduct routine sampling and auditing of processing and packaging lines (as minimally outlined by QA Supervisor)Perform visual inspection and analytical testing of in-process and packaged products (including lab samples for retention storage, and finished products in warehouse storage)Update laboratory computer software database with test in a timely mannerPerform inspection, sampling and testing of incoming ingredients (pasta additives) according to QA receiving procedureMonitor product or ingredient quality according to company and/or customer specification.Notify appropriate personnel and accurately document any deviation from quality standards or non-compliance issuesSegregate and hold non-compliance finished products and ingredients according to hold proceduresResponsible for ensuring product meets safe, legal and quality requirementsEnsure compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety ProgramsClean and maintain laboratory equipment.Assist Quality Assurance and Technical Services Supervisor in other areas or projects as assigned.

Ability to understand specifications and recognize product quality issues.Ability to effectively communicate deviations from quality standards to appropriate personnel.Competency in process auditing and inspection.Accuracy and timeliness of work.                                                                                                                                                                                                      

Qualifications/Physical Demands:     

Solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and HACCP programs. Demonstrate ability to interpret equipment drawings. Demonstrate good math skills and a solid understanding of manufacturing equipment operation and theory. Demonstrate good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Must be able to routinely lift 30 pounds unassisted. Must be able to stoop, kneel, climb and work at high elevations for extended periods of time. Must possess color vision acuity and depth perception. Must be able to vocally communicate in a frequently noisy environment. Must be able to work in an environment that is above 90 degrees Fahrenheit for extended periods of time. High School Diploma or GED required.
