Salary: $25/hour (35 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Friday: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Wednesday, Thursday: 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Location: Hempstead, NY
Reports to: Program Director   About the Role:

As a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA), you’ll use your personal recovery experience to inspire, support, and guide others on their journey to recovery. You’ll work directly with participants of our outpatient substance use program, providing peer support, advocacy, and helping them access vital resources. This role is all about meeting people where they are, supporting them in their journey, and ensuring they feel empowered and connected to their community.

  What You’ll Do: Support Recovery Planning: Help participants create and follow through with personalized, self-directed recovery plans. Connect to Community Resources: Provide participants with information on community recovery programs and services that can support their journey. Harm Reduction Education: Share information and tools like Narcan kits and Fentanyl strips to promote safer recovery practices. Accompany Participants: Assist participants by accompanying them to important appointments, such as detox centers, court, medical visits, or housing services. Crisis Support: Offer non-clinical crisis support, especially after hospitalization or incarceration. Outreach & Engagement: Reach out to individuals considering treatment and re-engage participants who may have become disconnected from the program. Educational Presentations: Facilitate educational workshops for local agencies, hospitals, and criminal justice settings. Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training to stay current with best practices in peer recovery support. Documentation: Maintain accurate records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, ensuring all services are documented according to regulatory requirements.   What We Are Looking for? NYS Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or CRPA-Provisional, with 46 hours of required training (including 30 hours of recovery coach training and 16 hours of peer ethics). Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent. 1+ year of direct experience in peer advocacy or a related field. Lived experience in substance use recovery and knowledge of the criminal justice system. Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations. Proficiency in computer systems and ability to navigate the EHR. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel (up to 25%). Understanding of the therapeutic benefits of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).   Why Join Us?
