Amergis Educational Services (843) 573-0772 #LI-MT1 POSITION PURPOSE: Under the supervision of the Department’s Special Education Director, this position is responsible for providing case management support for Special Education Teacher caseloads. This includes collaborating with Special Education Teacher for student assessment, drafting student IEPs, meeting coordination, attendance, facilitation, paperwork completion and processing, and records management (audit files and student management computer system). The Special Education Case Manager will work closely with the instructional personnel for students with disabilities including speech and language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, school psychologists, school counselors, and social workers to determine eligibility, placement, and programming for special education services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: + Compile, maintain, and electronically file all reports, records, and meeting paperwork, and submit required components to district office according to established timelines. + Develop, monitor, and report on goals; determine needs, design interventions utilizing research-based best practices. + Provide clear documentation in designated platforms that support the progress and growth of students toward their documented goals + Participate in IEP meetings and other meetings as needed. + Collaborate with the Special Education Teacher(s) to select assessments and materials, establish system for data collection, and collection and organize all completed relevant assessment data. + Author draft IEPs based on assigned caseload. + Utilize data collected from school psychologists, special education teachers and therapists, to draft student’s initial, annual, and amendment IEPs in collaboration with the student’s team lead and within the district’ required preparation timelines. + Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Special Education Direction, the Student Services Officer, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent. + Other supervisory duties as required by the Director of Special Education Services. ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent. QUALIFICATIONS: + Must have a valid South Carolina teaching certificate in special education; a master’s degree is preferred. + Three years of teaching experience in special education. EXPERIENCE : + Must have knowledge of the policies, procedures and activities of the school district which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the job. + Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal regulations and guidelines. + Knowledge of the records, forms and reports which must be prepared and maintained. + Has thorough and comprehensive knowledge of current research in programs for students with disabilities procedures, legal issues, instruction and assessment.
