Certified Sterilization Processing Technician
Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a nonprofit health care organization whose mission is to provide exceptional health care to people facing access barriers through clinical programs and education. Our service area covers 14 counties, from the front range to the Kansas border, with locations throughout Colorado Springs, Fountain, Flagler, Divide, Limon, and Strasburg. Peak Vista is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).  

Compensation (Pay): $21.43 to $31.07/hourly, based on experience.

A $1000 sign on bonus will be paid in the following manner: $300 payout upon 30 days of employment, $300 payout upon 90 days of employment, and $400 payout upon one year of employment*.
*Current employees are not eligible for the sign on bonus.

Loyalty Bonus - $1200 upon 1 year of service and then a $300 payout for every additional 3 months worked. This applies to only FT employees. The amount will be prorated for PT employees.

Job Summary: Responsible for providing clinic support through the proper care and handling of all Dental and Medical Clinic instrumentation. To include appropriate receiving of instrumentation, cleaning, decontaminating, packaging, and redistribution of instrumentation to specified clinics in accordance with guidelines and recommendations. This position will require excellent communication skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work as a team with minimal supervision. Associate must be able to work in a fast-paced, proactive, upbeat environment and possess critical thinking skills as it relates to Sterile Processing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Documents and maintains records for all sterilization processes. (e.g. quality control testing, sterilization, and maintenance). Maintains departmental organization and cleanliness. Conducts appropriate sterilization cycles needed in accordance with instrument manufacturer’s instructions. Maintains accurate tracking/documentation for all clinic instrumentation received and distributed. Maintains records of continuing education. Provides appropriate communication and tag any instrumentation or equipment removed from service. Verifies cleanliness of instrumentation and assemble in accordance with the instructions. Prioritizes daily tasks and clinic deliveries. Provides appropriate communication for needed supplies. Assists with clinic instrument transportation when needed. Works weekends and/or alternate shifts as necessary. Performs task and responsibilities as assigned by department manager Ability to travel inside and outside of the Colorado Springs area.  Promotes and demonstrates the mission, vision, and Core Values of Peak Vista. Education/Experience:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent education.

Work Experience: 1 year of previous experience in Sterile Processing or Dental Assistant with sterilization experience required.

Active certification of CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) from IAHCSMM or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician) from CBSPD or Certified Dental Assistant with sterilization experience required.

Certificates and Licenses:

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age or older to be an eligible driver on behalf of Peak Vista. Valid Colorado driver’s license and proof of insurance. Must meet and maintain driver criteria as prescribed by Peak Vista’s insurance underwriter. Active certification of CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) from IAHCSMM or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician) from CBSPD or Certified Dental Assistant with sterilization experience required. CPR Certification to be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.


Computer Skills: Intermediate ability to access the intra/internet to manage timecard, review policies and procedures, and read company communications; use e-mail to communicate with co-workers, leadership, and other departments; use and create a variety of templates, complex tables, merges; manage table data, sort and filter merges, and also perform basic work with existing Macros; customize toolbars, import and insert graphs, embed Excel data, and elaborate reports; work with multiple worksheets, filter data, use integrate functions, and manipulate databases; customize templates and the PowerPoint environment, and to make a presentation interactive by using hyperlinks and action buttons
