Certifying Scientist

Labcorp is seeking a Certifying Scientist to join its team in Raritan NJ. This position will be working in the Forensic Toxicology department which performs urine drug of abuse monitoring testing. The Certifying Scientist will be responsible for reviewing and verifying all data to ensure its accuracy before the final results get reported.

Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday: 04:00 pm - 12:30 am

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for certifying and releasing drug test resultsPerform certification review of all initial and confirmation dataAccurately enter and report test results for all specimensVerification of all chain of custody documents, quality controls, and calibrationsProvide technical, interpretive, and/or regulatory consultation and assistance to clientsEnsure the initial technical review is complete and accuratePerform GC/MS, LC/MS/MS and GC/FID certification in accordance with SOPsUnderstand and follow quality procedures and protocols for security and confidentialityReview and follow chain of custody procedures with accuracy and consistencyIdentify and resolve quality control issues in a timely mannerAssist in preparation of litigation packages and affidavits when necessaryConsult with laboratory technical staff regarding routine testing issues and practicesPrepare and participate in inspections and audits when requiredAdhere to all regulatory and standard operating procedure requirementsMaintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Requirements:  

Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirementsMinimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required OR an MLS degree Previous laboratory experience is required; 2 years is highly preferredQualify as an NLCP Certifying Scientist in an appropriate time framePrior GC/MS and LC/MS certification experience is a plusComfortability working in high volume, fast paced environmentProficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plusAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at a given timeHigh level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skillsFlexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
