Position: CF1 – Travel and Event Assistant – Canadian Folk Music Awards

Desired Contract Length: 26 Weeks             Start Date: January 20, 2025            End Date: Initial term approved to the Province of Ontario’s current fiscal year end, March 31, 2024.  Additional weeks, ending July 18, 2025 is pending the approval of Ottawa Festivals’ fiscal year (2025-2026) JCP program agreement.

Work Schedule:  Full Time – 4 business days (32 hours per week)          Location:  Hybrid:  Virtual and 1 day/week at Westboro office

Job Summary: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships. Reporting to the local CFMA Director, the incumbent will assist in the acquisition, tracking, analysis of information to facilitate the production of CFMA 2025 being held at the national capital.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Help with general event needs Track and coordinate travel details for the Board, Nominees, and VIP including fights, local transport, hotels Track audience and ticket sales statistics Organize participant accreditation (i.e. badges, lanyards), trophy award logistics, nominee acceptance and promo video tracking Coordinate other event information such as comp tickets, invitations, RSVPs, attendance, ticket sales, trophy details, survey responses Event Organization: event logistics (venues, food, etc. for welcome reception, networking events, and other meetings) Create and coordinate content: program booklet support, welcome package Create and maintain event listings online (such as social media, Ottawa Citizen, etc.) Provide social media support: content generation and liaison with CFMA Communications Director Collect post-event communications via survey, create reports, send thank-you’s, complete other event wrap up activities

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Strong computer skills and be familiar with Google Drive (including word processing and spreadsheet documents) Able to work under pressure and on various projects simultaneously and autonomously Have excellent communication skills Have excellent writing skills Previous event experience a definite asset Strong written and verbal skills

Additional Qualifications Required:

Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria: 

An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.   A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.  Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:  Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.  Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.  Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.  Received the Employment Insurance Emergency Response benefit (CERB) within the previous 60 months. 

NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.     

Remuneration:

$688 (gross) per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $21.50 based on 4 days/32 hours).
