Position Title: CFD Engineer Associate Position Location: Remote - work virtually from most locations in the United States SALARY DLB recognizes salary ranges from job boards do not necessarily reflect our pay ranges. JOB SUMMARY The CFD Engineer Associate will have the opportunity to work with and collaborate with senior design staff to advance their CFD skills for data center design and construction. They will learn, through hands-on application, how to design a wide variety of projects. This person will work as part of the Engineering Team and interact closely with the Project Management Team to produce construction documents, develop and edit project specifications and assist in the construction administration process. The CFD Engineer Associate will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. The CFD Engineer Associate will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assist in CFD Analysis Documentation Management (30%) + Assist in the entire process of CFD analysis documentation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project goals from initiation through to validation. + Utilize data center specific CFD software tools like 6SigmaRoom by Future Facilities / Cadence, or equivalent (TileFlow, CoolSim, Autodesk CFD, etc.). + Utilize general CFD software like Star CCM+ for building / wind analysis or HVAC related equipment manufacturing. Assist in Pre-Simulation Planning (30%) + Assist in coordinating with design teams to refine simulation objectives, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of project requirements + Assist in discussions to define simulation prerequisites, collect necessary data, and establishing accurate initial conditions for simulations + Help identify challenges and recommend modifications to design parameters or simulation setups, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the simulation process Assist in Simulation Execution and Validation (30%) + Assist in coordinating activities between design, project management, and clients, to ensure effective communication and alignment of project objectives + Assist in technical discussions with clients, presenting simulation findings, interpret results, and provide insights for CFD analyses + Assist in validation of CFD results, employing advanced analytical techniques to ensure that simulations are both accurate and reflective of real-world conditions + Assist in the review process, identifying discrepancies, and recommending solutions to improve simulation fidelity and project outcomes. Reporting (10%) + Prepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders + Update and maintain shop drawing and RFI log + Manage personal hours using company tools Completion of Assigned Tasks and Deliverables on Time and on Budget Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned Requirements POSITION REQUIREMENTS (BEGINNER LEVEL FOR ALL THE FOLLOWING) + Knowledge of fluid mechanics principles including boundary layers, laminar flows, and basic heat transfer + Knowledge of core numerical methods in CFD like finite volume and element methods + Knowledge of primary turbulence models and their applications + Knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit is a plus. + Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management + Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail + Ability to work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace + Ability to follow company and site safety requirements + Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence + Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision + Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines + Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously PHYSICAL DEMANDS The following physical demands must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
