The Graduate School of Technology is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Program Chair for the M.S. in UX/UI and Interaction Design program. This role also encompasses the responsibilities of Deputy Chair for the B.S. in Digital Multimedia Design undergraduate program. The successful candidate will assist the Dean and Undergraduate Department Chair in all aspects of Graduate School and Undergraduate Digital Multimedia Departmental operations. Responsibilities include researching comparative programs for the Digital Multimedia Design (DMD) undergraduate and UX/UI and Interaction Design (UXIN) graduate programs and proposing academic changes to enhance the Digital Multimedia Design undergraduate and UX/UI and Interaction Design graduate programs. The candidate will supervise the faculty for both programs, participate in Chair and Academic Committee deliberations, and undertake special assignments as determined by the Dean. Additionally, the role involves assisting with marketing and recruiting efforts for both the UXIN graduate program and the DMD undergraduate program, while collaborating closely with the Graduate School Technology (GST) administrative organization on school initiatives.

Responsibilities

Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

Program GrowthMarketing and recruiting both the UX/UI and Interaction Design graduate program and the Digital Multimedia Design undergraduate programDesigning and documenting new programs as warrantedArranging for workshops each semesterPromoting programs at information sessionsAnnually presenting comparative studies for competitive programsFaculty and CoursesHiring, supervising, and evaluating full-time and part-time teaching and research facultyDeveloping programs, structuring and scheduling courses, staffing, evaluating comparative programs, and assessing current programsAssisting in the individual course development and assessmentArranging for workshops each semesterAssisting instructors in finding appropriate guest speakers for their coursesPerforming course resource research for such items as textbooks and audiovisual toolsTeaching at least one courseManagement ResponsibilitiesEstablishing and maintaining productive connections with Deans, Directors, and Site CoordinatorsSupporting the Dean in all graduate and undergraduate initiativesSupervising the work of the Digital Multimedia Design Program CoordinatorAssisting the graduate UX/UI and Interaction Design Program Director as neededServing on college-wide committees and participating in college initiatives as directedParticipating in preparation for accreditation by organizing program data collection effortsStudent SupportCounseling and advising students regarding the UX/UI and Interaction Design and Digital Multimedia Design programsResponding to inquiries and complaints regarding the UX/UI and Interaction Design program and the undergraduate Digital Multimedia Design programManaging issues with At-Risk students Qualifications

Education/ Experience

Master’s Degree (at minimum) requiredAt least 3 years academic experience

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

Knowledge of educational programming and pedagogyUnderstanding of academic assessment toolsStrong customer service and organizational skillsMust be able to multi-task and prioritize workAbility to maneuver within the academic communityStrong interest in and commitment to student successProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Access.A working familiarity with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of software.Knowledge and proficiency with specific design concepts and software

Travel

Regular travel to Touro sites which house aspects of the UX/UI and Interaction Design program, the Digital Multimedia Design program, and various Computer Science and Information Systems programs.Occasional travel to meetings and conferences out of the city and the state
