Job Description:

The College of Health and Human Performance at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications at the rank of tenured Associate Professor or Professor for the Department Chair position in the Department of Sport Management. 

The Department  

The Department of Sport Management (SPM) is one of the leading departments in its discipline. The department is committed to (a) innovative, impactful research; (b) preparation and training of future industry and academic professionals; and (c) effective engagement with industry and the broader community. Recent departmental initiatives include the leadership of the campus-wide AI and Sport Collaborative, hiring of the inaugural Professor of Practice in AI and Sport Analytics, development of a Sport Management Industry Advisory Board, creation of five academic certificate programs and four non-credit certificates, and establishment of the Institute for Coaching Excellence. The Sport Management online program was one of the first in the country and is a thriving part of the department. Faculty lead productive research programs with a grant portfolio that exceeds $2 million in direct costs. The department includes six instructional and eight tenured or tenure-track faculty members who are supported by award-winning advisory and administrative staff. After a decade of growth, SPM serves more than 900 residential and online students including 618 undergraduate majors, 313 masters students, and 15 doctoral students. Responsibilities   

The Chair serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the Department and reports to the Dean of the College. The Chair is responsible for strategic planning and vision; academic leadership; working with the faculty on curriculum development; managing Department budgets and personnel matters; working with the College’s Development officer; representing the Department within the College, the UF campus and to the state, national, and international communities. In addition to administrative duties, the Chair is expected to lead by example, establishing a dynamic research program and actively engaging in the educational enterprise.

Expected Salary:

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
