Channel Controller – Pharmacy, Department Store & Lifestyle

Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Customer Channel Controller to lead our health and beauty channel. As a senior member of our commercial leadership team, you will work closely with the Commercial Director to achieve our vision. You will be responsible for managing relationships with Ireland’s biggest retailers in the pharmacy, department store, and lifestyle sectors, ensuring best-in-class product availability and execution of joint business plans at store level.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership: Lead the customer function for the pharmacy, department store, and lifestyle channels with full P&L responsibility. Act as a key senior contact for all customers, providing a unified presence across all trading departments and buyers.Customer Management: Drive relationships with our largest customers, ensuring exceptional standards of in-store service and execution. Identify and seek out new opportunities across both new and existing retailers and channels.Team Management: Lead, motivate, and support your team, including a National Account Manager and Field Sales Manager, to ensure the smooth and effective running of the team.Planning and Management: Develop and deliver customer trading plans, leveraging business analytics and category insights to influence decision-making. Ensure joint business plans align with account strategies and maximize opportunities.Execution: Lead the field sales briefing process, ensuring promotional activity and new product listings are achieved. Take ownership of cost price increase negotiations and approve agency and outsource field marketing spend.Performance: Achieve NSV and profitability targets, monitor account development, and deliver budgeted sales and KPIs. Advise the Commercial Director on budget variances and propose solutions.Administration: Ensure accurate and timely sales volume and value forecasts, maintain updated information and reports, and manage promotional budgets.Talent Management and Development: Implement the company’s Talent Management and Development strategy, ensuring all team members have the necessary support and development opportunities.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of National Account experience at a Senior NAM or Sales Controller level within a fast-paced, dynamic organization.Experience working with leading retailers in the health, beauty, or personal care categories across the Irish Pharmacy and Department store sectors.Demonstrable experience of managing and developing teams, creating and delivering successful joint business plans, and negotiating annual trading terms.Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret sales data and forecast accordingly.Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for creating commercial recommendations and impactful presentations.

Proactive and solutions-oriented approach to business challenges.Strong negotiation skills to interface effectively with key external clients and stakeholders.Ability to lead, motivate, and develop others.Strong understanding of financial measures, category management principles, and external economic and political factors influencing the industry.
