+ DETAIL: The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
+ PROBATIONAL APPOINTMENT: Current permanent status classified State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment, if selected.
+ TEMPORARY JOB APPOINTMENT: This position may be filled by temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in ministry or chaplaincy; OR
Certification received from Clinical Pastoral Education through the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) or Canadian Association of Spiritual Care (CASC) plus two years of experience in ministry or chaplaincy; OR
Certification by the Louisiana Chaplain's Association plus two years of experience in ministry or chaplaincy.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Applicants must be ordained, commissioned, licensed, or endorsed by the appropriate faith group or denominational authority at the time of appointment.
NOTE:
Ecclesiastical endorsements must be from the official national endorsing authority of the applicant's/employee's faith group or denomination.

To provide pastoral care to patients, clients, residents, inmates, etc. and their families through religious services, counseling services, rites, and sacraments.

Assist with the development of plans, policies, procedures, and budget for the pastoral care division.
Coordinates the pastoral care program with the total treatment program.
Participates in specialized counseling services.
Conducts religious services; performs religious rites; provides pastoral counseling to patients, clients, residents, inmates, etc. of a facility.
Applies crisis intervention principles in crisis situations.
Conducts pastoral care orientation sessions for the facility's patients, clients, residents, inmates.
Plans religious educational and recreational activities for patients, clients, inmates, etc.
Coordinates the resources within the total community for meeting the spiritual needs of persons within the facility.
Communicates with families and others on behalf of patients, clients, residents, inmates, etc.
Prepares the budget for pastoral care program.
Maintains records and prepares reports on patients, clients, residents, inmates, etc.
Confers with families and others on behalf of patients, clients, residents, inmates, etc.
