Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Chaplain / Pastoral Care.

In this role, the successful candidate Provide spiritual care to patients their loved ones and as appropriate staff and constituencies of NYU Winthrop Hospital using an inter faith model of care and working within the patient s belief and value system

Job Responsibilities:

Assess patient and family spiritual needs and assists patients and families in using their spiritual resources in dealing with illness trauma and stress Facilitate additional spiritual/religious support from community religious leaders including specific sacramental or religious needs Develop plan of care and provide spiritual/emotional support to patients and families including but not limited to: listening providing presence prayer reading sacred texts ethical guidance and sacraments Advise manager of important patient/clinical issues as they arise Respond to codes and traumas when designated as on call chaplain Perform other duties as assigned Mentor CPE student and volunteers as assigned by the manager and where appropriate Contribute to the wider community through publication teaching and research Participate in teaching/lecturing on a regular or periodic basis as invited Participate in regular professional development activities and supervision Participate in the departments plan for continuous quality improvement Ensure a safe environment and effective communication with all age groups of patients served by the Pastoral Care Department Adhere to Standards of Practice of the Association of Professional Chaplains and the principles and practices of Outcome Oriented Chaplaincy Function in such a manner that reflects the mission and vision of the institution Plan and lead worship opportunities including interfaith memorial services as assigned by department manager Lead bereavement and spirituality /study/ support groups as assigned by the manager Document all chaplaincy activities in a timely manner according to department protocols Complete office or administrative tasks as assigned with expectation of computer literacy and in accordance with institutional policy Provide support to staff as individuals request it or through participation in institutional events such as Nurses Week or when groups request it after traumatic events and loss Promote an interdisciplinary approach to spiritual care among all chaplains Participate in interdisciplinary rounds when possible and facilitate communication between health care team members Maintain a positive working relationship between the Pastoral Care Department and medical and nursing staff and other departments Serve on institutional committees as appointed

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, you must have a Master of Divinity degree Master of Arts in Religion a Master of Pastoral Counseling from an accredited school of theology or Ordination required or equivalent education and training; and endorsed by a faith tradition recognized by the US Department of Education Successful completion of at least 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education recognized by the US Department of Education required 1-2 years Clergy or Chaplain experience required

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $45,860.07 – $70,553.95 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
