Job Summary

The Chaplain is accountable to minister to the spiritual and emotional needs of the patient and residents.  Assist the patients, residents and family.  Maintain an atmosphere of Christian, patient centered care at Avera St. Mary's Hospital.

 

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or equivalent is required. Two units of CPE are required upon hire or to be completed within first two years of employment. Background in working with the sick and dying.  A period of pastoral experience in a health care institution. Knowledge of: Some knowledge of the basic elements and the religious aspect of health care.  Familiarity with religious practices of various denominations. Knowledge and familiarity with Ethical and Religious Directives and Advance Directives. 0 – 6 months experience required. Training in a health care ministry, 0 – 6 months

Day/Evening shifts as needed; PRN

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$21.50 - $32.50 per hour
