The Position

The Chapter Head External Affairs plays a pivotal role in ensuring that high-quality medicines are accessible to more people by leading the strategy, development, and execution of health policy and reimbursement efforts for Roche Pharma in Belgium and Luxembourg.

The Chapter Head External Affairs reports to the General Manager and is a key member of the affiliate Enabling Team for Belgium and Luxembourg.

In this role, your responsibilities include setting the vision and strategy for the department, ensuring sustainable and fast market access, the collection and sharing of health policy expertise, the development of corporate communication strategies and the constant ambition of the Affiliate to understand and collaborate with patient associations. The External Affairs team consists of 15 experts across four functional pillars: Market Access, Policy Management, Communication and Patient Engagement. You will also cultivate collaboration with Roche Diagnostics Belgium Affiliate ensuring Roche Belgium speaks with one voice to external stakeholders.

Your impact

As the Chapter Head External Affairs, you will significantly impact the healthcare landscape by steering the development and implementation of comprehensive health policy and reimbursement strategies. Your leadership will ensure Roche Pharma's products achieve optimal market access and pricing, facilitating swift and sustainable product listings. By developing and inspiring a high-performing team and fostering key internal and external partnerships, you will improve opportunities for access to Roche's innovative medicines and healthcare solutions. Your strategic vision and command of the healthcare ecosystem and regulations will drive the overall success and influence of Roche in Belgium and Luxembourg.


Your profile

To be successful you should possess:

A Master's degree and confirmed professional experience in market access, public affairs, or public policy in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry in Belgium, with at least 5 years of people leadership experience.

Comprehensive understanding of health policy, reimbursement, and advocacy, along with adherence to compliance policies involving third parties (NGOs, policymakers, healthcare professionals, and patient organisations).

Proficiency in French or Dutch and English to facilitate effective communication in an international setting.

Ability to lead change and innovation within a sophisticated environment, along with strong organisational and time management skills.

Genuine interest in people, with a focus on achieving goals through direct and indirect leadership, and fostering a high-performance team environment.

Strong facilitation, communication, negotiation, presentation, influencing, and consultation capabilities.

Analytical skills to evaluate quantitative and qualitative data for strategic decision-making.
