Charge Capture Analyst

Responsible for supporting hospital and physician charge capture, and revenue improvement initiatives. Collaborates with coding, billing, clinical, and charge entry to ensure accuracy in charging. Assists in developing and implementing charge capture policies which optimize compliant revenue generation along service lines.  Supports compliance efforts by adhering to regulatory, organizational, and departmental guidelines related to charging for services.

Position Responsibilities:

Collaborates with billing and internal stakeholders on initiatives to resolve issues, decrease billing delays and accelerate revenue. Identifies deficiencies in processes, impactful trends and missed opportunities to collect revenue. Advises departmental staff and charge leads on proper usage of charge codes based upon medical record analysis. Gathers, analyzes, and communicates timely relevant information based on service agreements. Monitors daily charge capture, revenue reconciliation utilizing tools for compliant charge capture detail and documentation integrity. Works with hospital departments to implement internal controls when errors are identified.

Required:

High School Diploma Five years’ experience dealing with hospital clinical and financial data, and expertise working with these complex relationships to produce solutions that ensure appropriate charge capture. One year proven experience in a financial system process role. One year experience in design, build and/or support of health information technology applications.

OR

Associate’s Degree in HIM, health care finance or related field Two years’ experience dealing with hospital clinical and financial data, and expertise working with these complex relationships to produce solutions that ensure appropriate charge capture. One year proven experience in a financial system process role. One year experience in design, build and/or support of health information technology applications.

Preferred: 

One year experience with Charge Services and General Ledger functionality within Cerner.  One year experience with Clinically Driven Revenue Cycle concepts. One year experience with nThrive Charge Capture Audit Applications. Two years’ experience with Hospital and Professional Chargemaster (CDM).
