Job Description

Performs charge posting for patient encounters and charge reconciliation. Maintains charge review work queues in support of assigned physician practice(s). Performs charge entry directly from physician-assigned superbills. Reviews medical records to obtain physician-assigned evaluation and management procedure coding, CPT, and ID-9/10 codes for posting, cross walk of physician-assigned evaluation and management procedure coding to match final patient status, and resolution of all in-scope billing edits within charge review work queues.

Experience

2 years of experience in a medical front office and/or billing responsibilities in a physician practice or hospital setting

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of evaluation and management procedure codingKnowledge of CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, and ICD-9/10 codingKnowledge of medical terminologyKnowledge of typical procedures and equipment usedProficient in Microsoft applications, including Word and ExcelMust be very organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks at onceSkilled in problem-solving and critical thinkingDemonstrated verbal and written communication, organizational, customer service, and interpersonal skillsMust be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment

Job Responsibilities

Performs daily charge entry of provider, supply, medication, and other applicable charges.Performs daily reconciliation and quality assurance checks of charges to allow for the quick identification of possible charge entry problems.Corrects charge entry errors via use of the Epic charge review work queue.Oversees all monthly charge reconciliations and monitors/responds to exception reports.Utilizes available resources and continuing education programs to remain knowledgeable and current with billing compliance regulations.Supports and participates in the continuous assessment and improvements of the quality of services provided.
