Position Summary:
As a Charge Nurse in our Float Pool, you will provide direct and indirect patient care in multiple inpatient departments.Our nursing float pool supplements staffing throughout the hospital based on need.
·This position will focus primarily on our Medical Surgical, Telemetry, MSSU and Ortho Units
·Critical Care (as needed)
You’ll provide oversight of unit operations on the assigned shift.Address problems, concerns and/or unanticipated events in a manner that optimizes the smooth functioning of the unit.Serve as a role model and preceptor to unit staff.In fulfilling all responsibilities, consider not only the unit perspective but also a broader organizational perspective.Prepare monthly work schedules, make daily patient assignments, schedule breaks and meal periods.Determine priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system.
Our Units:
The Float Pool is a high level performing department staffed with healthcare professionals who are equipped to work in various areas of the hospital. These highly trained professionals working in the Float Pool support the organization by having the ability to care for some or all of the specialty patient populations. The organization has several specialty units that the float pool supports which include: four Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units (MS/TELE), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and Progressive Care Unit (PCU).

oTuition Reimbursement: Repays up to $600 per calendar year for fees expended to attend a job-related seminar, licensure renewal (if mandated by job description), workshop, conference, individual course, or other training programs.
oTuition Loan: Provides up to $2,000 per calendar year for approved formal certificate or degree programs including prerequisites for approved degree programs. A tuition loan and reimbursement may, with appropriate approvals, be combined for a maximum of $2,600.
oCritical Pipeline Loan: Tuition loans up to $5,250 for specific degree programs at approved, accredited schools identified by the organization. This program is for attaining the following degrees:
§Bachelor’s: BSN, Chemistry, Medical Technology or Science.
§Master’s: MSN, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and Physical Therapy doctorate.
§Employees may have their loans Forgiven if they continue eligible employment for 12 months after completion of the term for which the loan was given
Hours: 07:00 a.m. – 19:30 p.m.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
·Graduate of accredited nursing program
·Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing
·BSN preferred
License/Certifications:
·Valid CA Nursing License
·BLS and ACLS required through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
·PALS preferredExperience:
·Minimum of 2 years RN experience in an acute care facility required
·Prior experience as a Charge RN strongly preferred
