Charge Nurse

Graduate from an accredited Registered Nursing Program; current registration with the provincial regulating body. Minimum five (5) years of nursing recent experience with progressive responsibilities with some supervisory experience. Previous experience or knowledge of RAI tools Previous experience working with geriatric clients; diagnosing and staging of dementia. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong leadership skills, including identifying growth opportunities in others.

 

Strongly recommended\: 

       Demonstrated ability to interpret company policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and to assess situations and problems efficiently and effectively. Experience with written documentation, care plans. Strong interpersonal, organizational, collaborative, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work well within an inter-professional team and to foster effective working relationships. Ability to exercise initiative and observe strict confidentiality. Demonstrated commitment to Bayshore core values. Experience with Clinical Skills Such as IV therapy, central lines, and wound care Experience with Conflict Resolution / Customer Service Management & Dealing with Difficult Situations / Employees.

 STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

The Charge Nurse must demonstrate ongoing competency in completing all duties and responsibilities of this job description, in response to changes by the regulating body, as well as agreed upon specific goals and objectives.

PERFORMANCE REVIEW

 Performance will be reviewed on an ongoing basis with a formal review at the end of the six-month probationary period and subsequently, on at least an annual basis. Input will be sought from employee, Supervisor, Branch Office, and Field employees, and in addition, will be based on ongoing client feedback and the extent to which performance meets expectations.
