Responsibilities

Provides oversight of the activities on a nursing unit during a specific shift including serving as a resource to staff directing patient flow assuring appropriate utilization of resources and providing oversight for the provisions of quality care in a manner satisfying to patients.

Serves as a resource to staff on clinical care.Mentors others in areas such as competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG), and participation in inservice education.Provides direct patient care as appropriate to meet the needs of the patients and department.Evaluates care given by staff.Coaches staff to improve care.Ensures standard of care is maintained.Exhibits a general understanding of the process for dealing with ethical dilemmas and understands and coordinates the process for obtaining an Ethics Consult.Coordinates patient flow on the unit to facilitate the provision of timely and effective care.Utilizes the Clinical Response Team (CRT) appropriately for the area.Demonstrates appropriate prioritization and critical thinking skills in critical situations.Provides and ensures quality patient care.Utilizes the nursing process, including accurately assessing the patient's physical, emotional, spiritual and learning needs.Develops an effective plan of care, provides appropriate care, patient teaching and referral to other resources, evaluates and modifies the plan of care based on patient response.Documents accurately in the medical record.Provides direct patient care as needed.
Qualifications

MINIMUM

ADN Diploma or foreign equivalent

Current AZ State RN license in good standing

American Heart Associatio BLS healthcare provider card required

PREFERRED

Two years RN experience within applicable clinical specialty and/or Charge Nurse experience

ACLS obtained within six months of hire into position.
