RN Charge Cardiac (Department of Corrections Unit) Position Summary

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Responsibilities

As the primary care RN you will be the primary coordinator of all disciplines to achieve well-organized patient care, including delegation of position appropriate patient care.
-Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
-Assessment - The RN uses a systematic, dynamic way to collect and analyze data about a patient, the first step in delivering nursing care. Assessment includes not only physiological data, but also psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and life-style factors as well.

-Updating patient records to accurately show patient condition.
-Care plan – Based on the assessment and problem identification, the nurse sets measurable and achievable short- and long-range goals in collaboration with the patient and family. Assessment data, problem identification, and goals are written in the patient’s care plan so that nurses as well as other health professionals caring for the patient have access to it. Implementation of care plan.

-Transition or Discharge planning-assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

-Monitoring vital signs, telemetry monitors, and EKG interpretation.

-Ensures patient safety
-Medication administration
-Patient/Family education

-Supervision & multitasking

THE RN Charge Cardiac (Department of Corrections Unit) FT DAYSCANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
License Required: Valid current Arizona Nursing License or compact state license and ability to become Arizona Licensed in 30 days.
Certification Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
Certification Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association

EDUCATION
Required: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
Preferred: Bachelors of Science in Nursing

WORK EXPERIENCE
Required: One year of RN experience

EDUCATION
Required: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Preferred: BSN preferred, not required.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Required: Valid current Arizona Nursing License.
Required: Required in area of clinical specialty within 3 years from ANCC or other approved credentialing entity (i.e. critical care: CCRN).

WORK EXPERIENCE
Required: Must have functioned in an RN role for a minimum of 1 year clinical experience required.

Skills
Required: Use of general patient care equipment and communication equipment; use of unit-specific equipment (clinical and general). Ability to adapt to changes in healthcare technology and support others in transition and learning. Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge
Required: Nurse Practice Act.

Technology
Required: Basic computer skills.

Required: Must be able to work variable shifts, holidays, and/or weekends.
