GENERAL:

Chefs on the Tyson Culinary team are expected to have general knowledge/competencies in food, culinary skill, and applicable industry knowledge. These include but are not limited to understanding of food culture, trends in various segments of the food industry, general cooking skill and acumen, proficiency in multiple cooking methods/procedures/arts, and familiarity with retail/food service industry standards and practices. They are also required to have a myriad of interpersonal skills fitting of a corporate setting. This includes written and verbal communication, emotional intelligence, presentation, and relationship management. Finally, they are expected to have a strong personal drive that can manifest in many ways including, personal goals, passion, pride, emotional connections, or many other impactful mechanisms of personal growth and development. 

ROLE SPECIFIC:

A Retail Chef II is expected to be proficient in culinary skill and ability. They are looked to for culinary inspiration and execution both on paper and in physical form. They work cross functionally with R&D scientists, sales, marketing, innovation, FSQA, insights, and operations to help develop, market, and sell new product innovations in the retail space. Most of their time is split between product development, marketing/insights support, and sales. They work hand in hand with R&D to develop new products and processes. They are called upon for firsthand insights and marketing knowledge. They are a key player with our sales and customer development teams expected to help manage relationships, present products, and support the general needs of customers. They are also a creative nerve center of what we do at Tyson foods, and as such are required to think, act, and push new ideas to the surface in an endless pursuit of better food!

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Culinary Arts, Food Science, or other applicable food-related degree

Experience:

3+ years culinary experience and 2+ years of R&D experience

Computer:

Proficiency with MS Office programsGeneral corporate tech savvinessProficiency with Outlook

Communication:

Proficient internal and external communication skillsProficient presentation skillsProficient emotional intelligence

Specialty:

Strong culinary skill and acumenUnderstanding of the retail supplier, processor, and customer landscape

Supervisory:
