Job Summary
Responsible for performing technical and specialized work in conjunction with chemical analyses.Please Note: This position is posted in a range, and an offer will be made based on the candidate's qualifications.
Job Description
Obtain and prepare in-plant and environmental samples, and operate sampling equipment, as directed.Perform tests requiring the use of analytical equipment, common chemical materials, including assisting in special analysis and tests necessary to regulate proper chemical treatment of systems.Prepare reagents, standards, and other chemicals to specific concentrations for use in sample analyses and system chemical additions.Make required equipment checks.Assist in performing tests and preparing related reports, graphs and curves.Record and present data from laboratory analyses calibration processes and in-plant / environmental surveys in proper written format and enter data into a computer database.Review, and / or record readings on controlling, indicating, and recording devices and compare to established standards and specifications.Recommend corrective actions and adjustments to system chemistry based on analysis results.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR CHEM TECH, JR:
Education requirements:
Associate degree in Chemistry or related fieldOr equivalent education or experience.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

A physical abilities assessment is also required for this position.Plan and complete scheduled activities on time.Assist other personnel in completing their activities and assist in the training of other employees.Support and participate in the Emergency Plan Organization, HAZMAT response organization, and Corrective Action Program activities as assigned, and in accordance with procedures and policies applicable for the assigned role.Perform all duties, and work with other employees in a safe manner, in compliance with appropriate company safety policies and rules.Assume responsibility for continuously upgrading knowledge and skill.Physical Demands:
It is understood that in the performance of most nuclear generating plant duties there will be associated radiation exposure within the limits prescribed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.Work location will include a plant environment which may include exposure to heat, cold, and noise.Work location will include outdoors, and therefore subject to weather conditions. Education and experience / licensing and certification requirements of this position conform to ANSI N18.1 – 1971 and ANSI/ANS-3.1-1993.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR CHEM TECH (MID-LEVEL):
Education:

Chem Tech, Jr: $34.21 -$37.95Chem Tech: $42.46 -$44.57Must establish and maintain a permanent residence within a 45-minute safe drive time to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant.
