Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Chemical Development department located at our Ridgefield facility. As an Intern, you will work in the biocatalysis group in Process Research and gain hands-on experience developing and applying new technologies to process development. Research will focus on development of a process using biocatalysis in flow including enzyme immobilization, flow biocatalysis, enzyme kinetics, and reaction optimization. You will have the opportunity to implement new technologies and gain a broad perspective on process development in a pharmaceutical industry setting.

Duties & Responsibilities Perform scientific experiments in biocatalysis with a predefined goalComplete tasks in a safe and compliant mannerPerform literature search as necessaryMaintain proper records of experiments in a notebookPresent research results in both oral and written formatsRequirements Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing Student must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferredMajor or minor in related field of internshipUndergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or universityGraduate and Advanced Degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or universityDesired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
An undergraduate student who has completed 2 semesters of organic chemistry, biochemistry is preferredHands-on research experience in organic chemistry or biocatalysis laboratoryAbility to think critically and use experimental results to design further experimentsSignificant interest in learning about new technologies as applied to process chemistryAbility to work independently and as part of a teamExcellent communication skillsCompensation DataThis position offers an hourly rate of $20.00 - $33.00 USD / hr. commensurate to the level of degree program in which an applicant is actively enrolled.
